If you set up an email address in an external email program, you will sometimes be presented with a choice between POP and IMAP. But what's the difference?
The difference between POP and IMAP is the way the email program handles your email account. With POP, once the email has been received by your email program, the email is deleted from our server. The email will then only be on your computer and in your possession.
With IMAP, all email is also stored on our server until you choose to delete it. This makes it possible to synchronize email across multiple devices. A disadvantage is that your hosting package runs out of memory faster. You will then have the same emails on all devices and in our online webmail environment.
We recommend using IMAP because you will always have your email synchronized on all devices, and you will therefore also have a backup on our servers.
